Inca Kids is inspired in the thousands of Peruvian men, women and children that work from dawn to dusk in their homes, schools and fields to provide the basics for their families: Water, food, shelter and education.
In our travels to the country, we always discussed the possibility to do something to help them; not give them money, not hand them just a few coins but empower them to reach broader horizons, show them that there is more than just making ends meet and provide food for the table; to inspire them to create more and better, to support their traditions of weaving, pottery, knitting and sewing.
Along the way, we encountered lots of Peruvian crafts, textiles, tapestries and artisan toys; some with very intricate designs and patters, others rather simple but extraordinarily beautiful, like most Peruvian Art. We learned not only how they were made but also the stories of the people that made them, the artisans, the artists…. And so, we fell in love with the idea to create a bridge between these wonderful people and the rest of the world.
It is our ambition to make accessible a small sample of the works of these ladies and gentleman to you, to your families, to your colleagues, to your neighbors, to the people you know, and by this, foster awareness of their traditions, their way of living, the things that inspire them and their country. A wonderful place to experience.
According to a growing number of fashion experts, spending your hard-earned cash on designer fashion is out and second-hand clothes are in. Don’t bother with those top labels, instead invest your time rummaging through charity shops, street markets and anywhere you can nab a bargain. In doing so you will be joining a growing band of “frugalistas”, for whom spending money on something new is so last season. The rule is if you haven’t made it yourself, it has to be second-hand.

Eco Eco aims to provide a genuine alternative to high street fashion by stocking clothing for men, women and children that is ethically produced (made in factories with high standards of worker welfare without the use of child labour), more eco-friendly (their suppliers aim to minimise their impact on the environment), manufactured without toxic dyes or finishes, without PVC or nickel plated fittings, and is made from organically grown fibre (certified organic cotton and hemp) wherever possible.
Their children’s clothes are manufactured almost entirely from organic cotton. A few seasonal items may not be made from organic fibres due to the difficulty in sourcing organic wool, however as with all Eco Eco’s other clothes they do not contain harmful chemical dyes and finishes so are safe for delicate skin.
In their Derbyshire shop, Eco Eco stocks a collection of exciting jewellery. Their fair trade silver jewellery comes from a community of silversmiths in Mexico which receives 95% of profits in order to provide a good living and freedom from the local shop owner ‘mafia’. Here in the UK recycled plastic and silver are transformed into stunning jewellery by Anna Roebuck - twice winner of Gift of the Year. Her designs use the vibrant colours of recycled plastic carrier bags to create a unique range of contemporary jewellery. They also have a collection of tactile jewellery made from ‘vegetable ivory’ or tagua nut in vivid colours.

Thao & Rashida met in 1995 while attending U.C. Berkeley and an instant friendship was formed as they learned that they share the same values and zest for life. ’They both love a good bargain, but appreciate quality as well. As cash-strapped college students with an eye for fashion, but also aware of their impact on the environment, they found it hard to find affordable clothing that met our fashion needs and satisfied our tree hugging spirit.
